Free Daily Email Devotional Service

Find out here about our free daily email devotional, sent to you each weekday morning.

For about forty years the children of Israel lived in the wilderness. Wildernesses, a bit like workplaces, can be pretty inhospitable. So how did the Israelites survive? Because God rained down manna right into their encampments. Was it difficult for the Israelites to gather the manna? No! In the early morning, they simply had to slip out of their tents and begin gathering.

That experience gives us a picture of what God can do for us in our workplace. Jesus said, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"

With daily bread right on to our computer monitor we can be strengthened and envisioned by God's word for the demands of the day ahead.

Bible passage:
John 6: 27-29 Jesus said, "Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On Him God the Father has placed his seal of approval."

Explanation:
The bible passage quoted above follows straight after The Feeding of the 5000 miracle. Jesus, with "five small barley loaves and two small fish", had fed a huge throng of people. Now the people are hungry, not for physical food, but to discover more about the Person who fed them. They were, as the Lord Jesus knew, looking for another sort of food - food that we can only get from the edible word.

Action:
Let today's Word for the Day be a declaration - declare it, speak it out if that's possible! "On him, God the Father has placed his seal of approval."

Word for the Day:
On Him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, help us to grow in our awareness of our inner need for daily feeding by the Word.
